Why does God view the nearly 2,000-year gap between the ancient and revived Roman Empires as no interval?
In God’s mind, the nearly 2,000 years between the ancient Roman Empire’s demise and the revived Roman Empire’s rise is only a blink of the eye. What ended around 350–360 A.D. and reappears in the 1990s is, to Him, pushed back-to-back with no interval between.
Les explains that from the demise of the ancient Roman Empire between 3 and 400 A.D. until the rising of the revived Roman Empire, almost 2,000 years may seem like a long time to us. But in the mind of God, it is only a blink of the eye. So, as far as He is concerned, what ended in 350 or 360 A.D. and is coming about in the 1990s is as if there is no interval in between; it has all been pushed right up back-to-back. Les says this is what you have to keep in mind as you study Revelation—that all of this is as if the whole interval had never happened.
