Les Feldick Bible Study

Will the kingdom that the Son sets up ever pass away or be destroyed?

No. The kingdom the Son sets up is described as a dominion that shall not pass away and shall not be destroyed. Though it will be interrupted for a little while when Satan is released, it continues after the new heaven and the new earth into eternity.

Les explains that God the Son comes before the Ancient of Days, God the Father, and is given dominion, glory, and a kingdom. This happens as He is about to return to earth and smite the Gentile empires that have been on human history for 2,600 years. He will destroy them, they disappear from view, and He sets up His kingdom—a dominion which shall not pass away, for it is eternal. Les notes that it will be interrupted again when Satan is released for a little while, but then comes the new heaven and the new earth, and the kingdom continues on into eternity. The verse concludes that His kingdom is that which shall not be destroyed, and He has His rule and reign.
