What was the purpose of Nebuchadnezzar's golden image?
Nebuchadnezzar's golden image was constructed as a huge image of himself, made of gold, to amalgamate all the religions of his day under a worship of himself. It served his self-exaltation and unified religious worship around him, prefiguring the Antichrist and false prophet during the Tribulation.
Les explains that Nebuchadnezzar had constructed a great, huge image of himself, more or less, made of gold. Its purpose was to amalgamate all the religions of his day under a worship of himself. Les then takes the class back to Revelation, where the Antichrist and the false prophet will do much the same thing during the Tribulation. This fits the times of the Gentiles, which Les says is now, and Jesus spoke in Luke 21 of the times of the Gentiles when Jerusalem would be trodden down by Gentiles until Christ returns, after which it reverts to Israel and their relationship with Jehovah God.
