What kind of gods did the non-Israelite pagan nations worship?

The non-Israelite pagan nations worshiped pagan gods that were usually female goddesses, gods of mythology, frogs, animals, or the sun and moon. They had no knowledge of the one true God; only Israel possessed that knowledge during the period of the ancients. They worshiped whatever they knew.

Les explains that after the call of Abraham, Israel alone had a knowledge of Jehovah, the one true God, passed on through Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve tribes. All the rest of the nations had nothing but their pagan gods. Those gods were usually the female goddesses or the gods of mythology, or they were frogs, animals, or the sun or the moon—whatever they knew about except the true God. Thus the non-Israelite nations worshiped a wide variety of created things and mythological deities.
