Les Feldick Bible Study

What did the earlier lesson show about Joel's prophecy?

The earlier lesson showed that Joel's prophecy runs constant right through to the end of the prophetic program. It demonstrated that Peter quoted Joel 2 straight through, including the signs in heaven and earth before the great and notable day of the Lord, instead of stopping where he should have.

Les explains that a few programs earlier, and almost two years ago, the lesson looked at Joel to show the prophetic program runs constant through to the end. He notes that Peter did not have the foreknowledge to stop where he should have stopped, unlike Jesus, who stopped in the middle of the Isaiah verse and said, "This day is this fulfilled." Peter quotes Joel chapter 2 word for word and reads right straight through the prophetic program. Les points out that what Joel described—sons and daughters prophesying, young men seeing visions, old men dreaming dreams, and servants and handmaidens receiving the Spirit—was happening. But Peter does not stop there; he continues to the wonders in heaven above, signs in the earth beneath, blood, fire, vapor of smoke, the sun turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before that great and notable day of the Lord. Les then asks whether that has happened yet.
