What is reconciliation in Christianity?
Reconciliation is the sinner, once separated from God, being brought back to God through the work of the cross. At salvation, the believer makes peace with God; enmity ends, outcast status ends, and one becomes God's child. This is distinct from the ongoing peace of God in Christian life.
Les explains that reconciliation is when the sinner who was separated from God is reconciled to God through the work of the cross. At that moment, the believer makes peace with God; the enmity is gone, and the believer is no longer an outcast but is now God's child. Les distinguishes this peace with God from the ongoing peace of God that believers can experience as they walk the Christian life and pray, leaving everything in the throne room of heaven. That peace passes all understanding, is beyond human concept, and only the believer understands it; it keeps hearts and minds, our whole mental health, even through adverse circumstances.
