Is Paul's prayer for the Colossian believers valid for Christians today?

Yes. Paul's prayer for the Colossian believers is certainly valid for us today, because Paul writes to us Gentiles and prays on behalf of believers, never unbelievers. The prayer applies to Christians today as those delivered from darkness and translated into the kingdom of His dear Son.

Les explains that since Christ is no longer on the earth and the kingdom of heaven is no longer at hand, the kingdom went with Him into heaven. He stresses that Scripture presents two entities: Israel, the earthly people of God, and the church, the heavenly people of God. In Colossians chapter 1, Paul writes to Gentiles and prays for the Colossian believers, and Les says this is a prayer certainly valid for us today. Paul always speaks to or on behalf of believers, never an unbeliever. The Father has already delivered believers from the power of darkness and already translated them into the kingdom of His dear Son. If you are a child of God, you are in the kingdom now, and when Christ comes at His second coming and sets up the kingdom on the earth, believers will be with Him.
