Who was Paul praying for in Colossians 1?
Paul was praying for the Gentile believers in Colossae, in Asia Minor. The passage indicates he gave thanks to the Father for them, who prepared them for the inheritance of the saints in light and delivered them from darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son.
Les explains that in Colossians chapter 1, Paul had been praying for these Gentile believers up in Colossae in Asia Minor. Dropping down to verse 12, Paul gives thanks unto the Father, who has made us meet, or prepared us, to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. Speaking of God the Father, He hath delivered us from the power of darkness and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. Les points out that this kingdom is in heaven, so we are now citizens of heaven because we are members of that Kingdom of Christ. This connects with the believer's role as an ambassador of our homeland, which is in heaven.
