Why does the statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream fall down?

The image falls because the stone cut without hands strikes its feet of iron and clay. Since the image is already top heavy, the blow causes it to tip over. The stone then rolls over the metals, crushing the image to powder, symbolizing Christ, whose kingdom becomes a great mountain.

Les teaches that the stone cut without hands strikes the image upon its feet, which were made of iron and clay. Because the image is already top heavy, it tips right over. Then the stone rolls over all the metals of the great image like a steamroller building a highway, breaking and crushing them to pieces. The metals become like chaff, powder, and dust, and the wind carries them away so no place is found for them. The stone that destroyed the image becomes a great mountain. Les stresses that such symbolic words maintain their symbolism, and a mountain used this way in Scripture is always a kingdom, most generally the kingdom—the kingdom is the kingdom.
