Who is the second beast in Revelation?
The second beast is the false prophet, a religious leader empowered by Satan who exercises the authority of the first beast and causes humanity to worship the Antichrist. As a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit, he performs miracles and deceives those dwelling on the earth.
Les teaches that the second beast is the false prophet, pictured as a powerful religious leader during the tribulation. This beast exercises all the power of the first beast before him, the political leader and Antichrist, and causes the earth and its inhabitants to worship that first beast. Les explains that the book of Revelation presents a counterfeit trinity: Satan counterfeits God the Father, the Antichrist counterfeits God the Son, and the false prophet, this religious leader, counterfeits the Holy Spirit. Just as the genuine Spirit draws people to the Son, this counterfeit causes people to worship the Antichrist. He does great wonders, even making fire come down from heaven, and deceives those dwelling on the earth through miracles.
