How old were the Israelite men of war?
The transcript states the Israelite men of war were young single men from age twenty up to age possibly thirty, normally twenty-six. That field count was about six hundred thousand, implying a total population of three to five million people.
Les teaches that when Israel came out of Egypt in Exodus 12, the nation could put about six hundred and some thousand men of war in the field, which was only a small percentage of the total. He describes these as young single men between the age probably of twenty and as high as thirty, but normally twenty-six. From that number, he reasons, you would need a total population of three to five million. Even forty years later, their numbers had not been totally decimated, so from Mount Pisgah Balaam still could not see the end of the children of Israel.
