Where were the 12 spies sent in?
The 12 spies were sent from Kadesh, at the southern part of what is now Israel and the upper end of the Sinai Peninsula. The context identifies Kadesh as the place where they sent in the 12 spies. Their unbelief resulted in God sending Israel back into the Sinai for 40 years of wandering.
Les explains, using a makeshift map, that Kadesh was located at the southern part of what is now Israel and at the upper end of the Sinai Peninsula. From that place, the 12 spies were sent in. He notes Israel is a tiny strip of land, with only about 40 miles from the Mediterranean to the Jordan Valley, and identifies Jericho just off the Dead Sea and Jerusalem a few miles inland. As a result of their unbelief, God sent Israel back into the Sinai for 40 years of wanderings.
