How are we redeemed according to 1 Peter?

Peter writes that believers are redeemed not with silver and gold, nor by the vain conversation or traditions received from fathers, but by the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. This redemption is not by tradition or material wealth.

Les teaches from 1 Peter 1:18–19 that Peter says believers were not redeemed with silver and gold from their vain conversation, or manner of living, received by tradition. Les points out that people today, like the Jews, are steeped in the tradition of the fathers and think they will make it, but tradition is not going to make anybody make it. Sometimes traditions must be broken to come to the truth of Scripture. Then Peter declares the true redemption: by the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. Les then turns to what Paul says about the same Word in Romans chapter 3.
