By what age has Satan completely wrapped every person in his web?
By the time a person reaches the age of accountability—described as eight, nine, or ten years old—Satan has completely wrapped them in his web. Every person born into the human race is spiritually dead, and as they pass through innocent years, Satan progressively wraps his web until they are immobilized and helpless.
Les explains this using the illustration of a spider and a locust. A locust flew into a spider web, and the spider quickly wrapped it completely in webbing, immobilizing it. Les then applies this picture to humanity: every person born into the human race is dead spiritually. As we move through our innocent years, Satan begins to wrap his web around us. By the time we reach the age of accountability—eight, nine, ten, whatever you want to call it—he has us completely wrapped in his web as that spider did with the locust. There was no way the locust could get out; it was immobilized and helpless. Les also illustrates that he cut the web off the locust with his pocket knife, and the locust dropped to the ground and then took off, which he ties to the release from Satan's web.
