What should the Jewish believers have done after the Gentile was saved?
They should have returned to Jerusalem and spread the word that God was now ready to turn to the Gentiles without Israel. They were to announce that God was dealing with Gentiles on His own ground, not on the basis of the nation of Israel.
Les teaches that the sign at Cornelius’ house was particularly used to convince these Jews. Since the Jews would go from Cornelius’ house right back to Jerusalem, they should have just spread the word that God is now ready to turn to the Gentiles without Israel. But they did not. Les explains that Peter and those evidently with him had never said a word for another eight or ten years. They did not cast one word among the children of Israel that God was now dealing with the Gentiles on His own ground and not on the basis of using the nation of Israel.
