What did Paul say about the way he came to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 2?

Paul told the Corinthians that when he came to them, he did not come with excellence of speech or wisdom, but determined to know nothing among them except Jesus Christ and Him crucified, and he was with them in weakness and fear. His speech and preaching were not with enticing words.

Les explains that Paul did not rely on smooth oratory or human wisdom, and he was not an Apollos. Paul determined to know nothing among the Corinthians except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He came in weakness and fear, not with the brash courage people often imagine; he was commonplace and shook in his boots entering strange places. His speech and preaching were not with enticing words. Les illustrates this with a gifted Bible school student voted most likely to succeed who left the ministry within six months because he relied on the flesh rather than God's call. God begins with nothing.
