What does the wood in the Ark of the Covenant represent?

The wood of the Ark of the Covenant represents Christ's earthly side. It was a box made of wood, which spoke of His human/earthly nature, while the gold covering spoke of His deity. Everything in the tabernacle pictured Christ.

Les teaches that the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies was a box made of wood, and that wood spoke of Christ's earthly side. The same Ark was covered with gold, which spoke of His deity. So the wood represents Christ's earthly or human side, while the gold represents His divine side. Les further explains that everything in the tabernacle—the fence, the blocks, the hides, the sacrifices, the priesthood, and the Day of Atonement—speaks of the finished work of Christ on the cross. He also connects this to propitiation in Romans chapter 3 being lived out in every detail of the tabernacle.
