Why does fulfilled prophecy substantiate that the Bible is the Word of God?
Fulfilled prophecy substantiates that the Bible is the Word of God because God foretold events long before they occurred, and then they happened just as He said. This displays divine foreknowledge, as with Israel's Egyptian bondage foretold to Abraham, proving His word is utterly trustworthy.
Les teaches that prophecy is beautiful and is the substantiation that the Bible is the Word of God, because God foretold things long before they happened, and then they did. In Genesis 15, shortly after the covenant to Abraham—that a nation would come from him, be placed in a land, and have a government with God as King—Abraham asks, “Whereby shall I know that I'll inherit this land?” God descended to man's level and went through the rites of transferring real estate. Les calls chapter 15, verses 12 to the end, Israel's deed, where Jehovah carried out the rite of real estate transfer as in antiquity. As He deeds the whole Middle East to Abraham, He gives prophecy in verse 13: Abraham's seed would be a stranger in a land not theirs—Egypt—serve them, and be afflicted four hundred years. God said, “Know of a surety,” meaning you can bank on it. Les broke down the four hundred years as the sojourning, not necessarily the affliction, though it sounds that way. The point is that what God foretold came to pass, substantiating Scripture.
