Should parents give up on their wayward children?
Parents should not give up on wayward children. Even when children trained in the Word stray during youthful years, God can bring them back, often in maturity, perhaps their 30s. Keep communication lines open, because the truths learned under your roof can later ring a bell and draw them back.
Les teaches that parents should never give up, because even though children have been trained and know the Word, they may stray during youthful years, but God will bring them back. He says he has seen over and over that this is exactly what He does. When these kids reach maturity, maybe even in their 30s, they suddenly realize Mom and Dad weren't so dumb after all and return to it. So he always tells parents not to give up and not to cut the lines of communication, because what they picked up while under their roof will someday start ringing a bell, and they will come back to those precepts.
