Why did God make houses for the midwives?
God made houses for the midwives because they feared Him. Scripture states that because the midwives feared God, He dealt well with them and made them houses. They had refused Pharaoh’s order to kill the male Hebrew babies, and God blessed them accordingly, while the people multiplied and became very mighty.
Les explains that the midwives feared God more than Pharaoh. They did not kill the boy babies as commanded. When Pharaoh questioned them, they answered that Hebrew women were lively and strong and delivered before the midwives arrived. Les points out that God had His thumb on them. Because they feared God, He dealt well with them, made them houses, and the people multiplied and waxed very mighty.
