Why did God establish the tabernacle and the priesthood for Israel?

God established the tabernacle and priesthood as Israel's ritual worship system, the ecclesiastical part of the legal system, to compensate for Israel's breaking of the moral law and to ensure Israel would know exactly what to do under any set of circumstances.

Les teaches that because Israel had broken the moral law, God gave them a ritual or system of worship—the ecclesiastical part of the legal system. This is why the tabernacle and priesthood were established: so that Israel would know exactly what to do under any set of circumstances. Les also explains that once the tabernacle was completed, God intended to take them straight into the Promised Land, without the delay caused by the twelve spies.
