What did God tell Abram to do?

God told Abram to leave Ur and his family and go to a place He would show him later, which ended up being the land of Canaan. This call came as God revealed Himself to Abram and called him out of the midst of idolatry.

Les explains that God called Abram out of the midst of idolatry, at a time when the whole human race was steeped in paganism and no one had knowledge of the one true God. God saw in Abram a potential for faith, revealed Himself to him, and told him to leave Ur and his family. Abram was to go to a place God would show him later, which turned out to be the land of Canaan. This call began the nation of Israel, and from Abram came the covenant passed on to Isaac, then Jacob, through whom the promised seed, the Messiah of Israel, would come.
