Why did God set up a plan of redemption after Adam sinned?

When Adam sinned, God lost the human race. He therefore immediately set up a plan of redemption to buy back what was lost. Redemption is the only way to regain control of something that has been lost, and this plan was in His sovereign purpose.

Les explains that when Adam sinned, God lost the human race, so He immediately had to set up a plan of redemption. He illustrates redemption as buying back something you have lost control of, like redeeming an item from a pawn shop. Les notes a parallel when Joseph's brothers sold him into Egypt, causing God to lose control of His covenant people, so He would have to buy them back. This was all in God's sovereign plan. Israel would become a nation in Egypt during the 430-year span foretold, with 215 years remaining after Jacob went down. As long as Joseph lived, the Israelites prospered in Goshen and multiplied.
