What will become a reality when believing Jews recognize Christ?
The new covenant will become a reality, and every believing Jew will know He is their God and they are His people. There will be mourning and weeping as they look upon the One they pierced, followed by reunion with the One they rejected and crucified, now finally their God.
Les explains that when Christ returns, the nation of Israel will suddenly realize who He is, and this great event is described in Zechariah 12:10. The prophet writes that God will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplications, and they shall look upon Him whom they pierced. The 'they' are the Israelites, the Jews. They will mourn for Him, and there will be a time of weeping and reunion. The one they rejected, crucified, and killed is finally their God. Then the new covenant will become a reality, and every believing Jew will suddenly know that He is their God and that they are His people. Les also connects this to Genesis 45, where Joseph's reunion with his brothers involved weeping, illustrating the reunion theme.
