How did Joseph's blessing get transferred while he was also given seniority over his brothers?

Joseph’s blessing was transferred to his two sons, yet Joseph himself was finally elevated to the place of seniority over all the others. This came after he maintained his chastity under pressure, while Reuben suffered the consequences, and God keeps record and keeps track.

Les explains that Reuben had suffered the consequences of his actions, while Joseph maintained his chastity under all the pressures and therefore ended up with the blessings. The blessing was passed on to Joseph’s two sons, but even so Joseph was finally elevated to the place of seniority over all the others, because God keeps record and keeps track. In the following chapter, when the brethren come to Egypt for grain the second time, Joseph cannot refrain himself, makes himself known to his brethren, and weeps aloud in a reunion.
