After being restored to life, what kind of bride do Joseph and Christ both take?
After being restored to life, both Joseph and Christ take a Gentile bride. Joseph, once considered dead, later takes an Egyptian bride in Egypt. Christ, rejected as Israel’s king, is exiled from Jerusalem’s throne to heaven, and from there He takes a Gentile bride.
Les teaches that Joseph and Christ both picture a resurrection: Joseph was cast into the pit and considered dead, yet the Ishmaelites came along and he was alive, a type of resurrection; likewise it was with Christ. After being taken for dead and restored to life, both Joseph and Christ take a Gentile bride. Joseph ends up down in Egypt and takes an Egyptian bride. Christ is exiled from His rightful throne in Jerusalem as the King of Israel and goes back to heaven. Les also notes Psalms 110:1, where God the Father says, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool,” and then Christ is going to return.
