Who was Paul confronting in Galatia?

Paul confronted the little congregations in Galatia who were being undermined by Judaizers. These false teachers claimed that salvation could not be by grace alone but required keeping the law and circumcision. Paul was confronting these congregations because they were being led astray from the pure gospel of grace and faith.

Les explains that the book of Galatians constantly contrasts law and grace. Paul was confronting the little congregations in Galatia who were being submarined by Judaizers. Those false teachers insisted that salvation could not be by grace alone but required keeping the law and circumcision. Les notes that while circumcision may seem like a past issue, similar insidious teachings still creep into believers' lives, causing doubt and making them wonder if they have believed enough. Satan then suggests they must do this or that. The remedy is to stay in the Word, affirming salvation is by grace and faith plus nothing. This sets up chapter 3, verse 1, where Paul calls them foolish.
