Will I ever stand before God with sin on my record?
No. When a person comes under the Gospel's forgiveness, every sin—past, present, and future—is forgiven and paid for by Christ. Therefore, the believer will never enter God's presence with sin on their record, not because of personal works, but because of what Christ accomplished on their behalf.
Les teaches from Galatians 2:20 that Paul makes the classic statement that he is crucified with Christ. That is the very function of the Gospel: Christ died for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose from the dead. Les strongly makes the point that when we come under that forgiveness, we are forgiven everything—past, present, and future. We will never come into the presence of God with sin on our back, so to speak, because it has all been paid for. This is beyond human comprehension, but Les believes it because that is what the Book teaches: we have been forgiven all our trespasses, not because of anything we have done, but because of what Christ accomplished on our behalf. That makes the Gospel simple, yet complex; we will never understand it this side of glory. Paul goes on to say that even though he is crucified by identification with Christ's death, yet he lives, and the life he now lives in the flesh is lived by faith. Les prefers the faithfulness of the Son of God.
