Les Feldick Bible Study

What moves the biblical writers to write?

The biblical writers are inspired by the Holy Spirit and moved of God to write what they write. This divine prompting causes them to record Scripture. John and Moses both use 'in the beginning' language, demonstrating this same inspiration and movement.

Les teaches that all these writers are inspired of the Holy Spirit and are moved of God to write what they write. He explains that John, when speaking of the beginning, uses the same language as Moses, who wrote the first five books. In John's Gospel, chapter 1, verse 1, John says 'in the beginning,' not '20 million years ago' or '10,000 years ago,' but simply 'in the beginning,' just as Genesis says. Les further notes that in the beginning was the Word, capitalized as a term of deity, and the Word was with God and was God. He mentions that some cults disagree, but that flies in the face of the book.
