What kind of people is Israel in God's program according to this lesson?
Israel is God's earthly people, with earthly promises, and everything concerning them is earthly. They received God's Law through Moses at Mount Sinai after coming out of Egypt, an event tied to the allegory of the two covenants and Hagar, which genders to bondage.
Les teaches that Israel is God's earthly people with earthly promises, and everything concerning them is earthly. In the lesson, this is tied to Mount Sinai after Israel came out of Egypt and encamped around the mountain. God called Moses up and gave him the Law—the Ten Commandments and all the rest—and Moses came down and gave it to Israel. The text calls these things an allegory of the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai, which genders to bondage, is Hagar, and this is compared with Ishmael.
