What must Israel do before God will end their captivity and regather them from the nations?
Israel must return to the Lord their God, obey His voice according to all He commands, with all their heart and all their soul, they and their children. Then the Lord will end their captivity, have compassion, and gather them from all nations where He scattered them.
Les teaches from Deuteronomy 30 that after God scattered Israel among the nations, the condition for restoration is a wholehearted return to the Lord. They must obey His voice according to all that He commanded, both them and their children, with all their heart and soul. Only then will the Lord turn, or end, their captivity, have compassion on them, and gather them from the nations where He scattered them. God will also bring them into the land their fathers possessed; they will possess it, and He will do them good and multiply them above their fathers. Israel has not reached that place yet, but it is getting close. The time is coming, not far away, when all these prophetic utterances concerning the nation of Israel will become a reality.
And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
