Why is there so much war, sickness, and enmity in the world?
War, pestilence, catastrophe, enmity between individuals, nations, and family members, plus sickness and disease, are all traced to the curse. Human history has experienced these troubles for six thousand years, and the context repeatedly answers the reason for them with one explanation: the curse.
Les teaches that in the intervening verses the curse is brought in, and he identifies the curse as the answer to the world's ongoing turmoil. He notes that even as we speak the world is in turmoil over the Middle East, and that this has been true for the 6,000 years of human history. The result is war, pestilence, catastrophe, and enmity between individuals, between nations, and between family members. When he asks why, his answer is the curse. For sickness and disease, he gives the same answer: the curse.
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
