What should a thinking person fear in addition to physical death?
In addition to physical death, a thinking person should fear spiritual separation from God, an eternal separation that is what hell truly is. This separation is awful and everlasting, far beyond the physical separation of body and soul, and it is the greater consequence of sin that began with Adam.
Les explains that while people shrink from physical death, a thinking individual should also have apprehension of spiritual separation from God. Satan has kept most people from that place, but such a person naturally fears being separated from God for all eternity. Les teaches that this eternal separation is what hell really is, with all its other ramifications. Death and sin began when Adam ate in direct disobedience to God's revealed will, and death reigned from Adam to Moses. Paul shows that Adam was a type of Christ, the second Adam, who by death imparted life.
