How does God's creation of mankind parallel the husband-wife relationship?

God created mankind so He could extend His love to a creature and receive love in return. This parallels marriage: God commands the husband to love his wife because He created the woman to respond to that love. God also gave man a choice, an alternative, so love would be genuine rather than robotic.

Les explains that God's creation of mankind directly parallels the husband-wife relationship. God wanted a creature to whom He could extend His love and from whom He could receive love in return. In the same way, God expects and commands the husband to love his wife, because God created the woman to respond to that love. To make man's love genuine, God had to give him an alternative; otherwise man would have been a robot. God did not create men to be robots but gave them the power of will, or the will with the power of choice. He chose the tree, placed it before Adam, and told him everything was his to enjoy and he could live forever, but of that one tree he was not to eat, for in the day he ate he would surely die.
