What happened in Ezekiel's vision of the dry bones?
In Ezekiel's vision, he saw a valley covered with very dry bones. As he prophesied, the bones came together, skeletons formed, flesh and skin came upon them, breath entered them, they lived and stood upon their feet as an exceeding great army. These bones pictured the whole house of Israel.
Les teaches that Ezekiel looked out over a valley just covered with very dry bones that had been there for centuries. In the vision, the bones came together, skeletons appeared, flesh and skin came upon them, and then they became living and stood upon their feet as an exceeding great army. Les explains that the Bible interprets this vision for us: the bones are the whole house of Israel. They had been dispersed out of their homeland among the Gentile nations for thousands of years, and it seemed there was no hope of them becoming a viable nation again. But God had not forgotten the children of Israel. He instructs Ezekiel to prophesy that He will open their graves.
So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
