How was the coming Redeemer revealed throughout the Old Testament?
The coming Redeemer was first promised in Genesis chapter 3, then prophesied all the way up through the Old Testament according to the predetermined counsel of God. Scripture reveals He would come at the exact right moment in time, fulfilling God's foreknown plan that Christ would go to the cross.
Les teaches that once the human race would sin and fall out of fellowship with their Creator, God could immediately promise a Redeemer, and that promise is given in Genesis chapter 3. From there the Redeemer is prophesied all the way up through the Old Testament according to the predetermined counsel of God. Les emphasizes that He came at the exact right moment in time; history would not have worked out right had He come a hundred years sooner or a hundred years later. It was all according to the predetermined counsel of the Godhead and God's foreknowledge, part of the plan of the ages before anything was ever created, that Christ would go to the cross. Everything has been right on schedule.
