Les Feldick Bible Study

What have we obtained in Christ?

In Christ, believers have obtained an inheritance. Because they are now children of God, they are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. This inheritance is part of the salvation experience, and the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.

Les explains that Ephesians chapter 1 teaches that in Christ we have obtained an inheritance. He connects this to the believer's position as a child of God: if we are children of God, then we are heirs of God, and if heirs, then joint heirs with Christ. Les says it all just fits together. He further explains that this is part of our salvation experience, and that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

What have Gentiles obtained in Christ according to Ephesians 1:11?

Les teaches that Ephesians 1:11 states, 'In whom also we have obtained an inheritance,' and he reminds us that Paul is writing to Gentiles. Les emphasizes that Gentiles now have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will. He connects this to the eternal purpose of God, showing that God was not caught off base when Israel crucified the Messiah; it was all in the eternal purposes. Les also directs us to II Timothy 1:9, where God hath saved us and called us, underscoring that salvation and calling flow from God's eternal purpose.
