Where were Tyre and Sidon located?

Tyre and Sidon were located on the Mediterranean Sea coast, in the area now known as Lebanon. Jesus departed into their borders in Matthew 15:21. This was one of only two exceptions to His earthly ministry, which was otherwise confined to the nation of Israel.

Les explains that Tyre and Sidon were located on the Mediterranean Sea coast, in the area now known as Lebanon. In Matthew 15:21, Jesus departed into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. This was significant because Jesus' earthly ministry was confined to the nation of Israel, as He commanded the twelve in Matthew 10:5-6 not to go into the way of the Gentiles or Samaritans, but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Les notes there were only two exceptions to this restriction, and the account of Tyre and Sidon is one of them.

Matthew 15:21

Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
