What did Jesus command the twelve apostles in Matthew 10?

Jesus commanded the twelve apostles to avoid Gentile roads and Samaritan cities, and instead to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. This directive confined His earthly ministry to Israel, emphasizing that the gospel of the kingdom was first proclaimed to God's earthly people.

Les explains that in Matthew chapter 10, after Jesus called out the twelve disciples, or apostles, He sent them forth with a command: 'Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not.' Instead, they were to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, God's earthly people. This confined Christ's earthly ministry to Israel, with only two exceptions, one being the account in Matthew 15:21 where Jesus departed into the borders of Tyre and Sidon.

Matthew 10:5

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Matthew 10:6

But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
