What command did Jesus give the twelve disciples about where to go in Matthew 10:5-6?

Jesus commanded the twelve not to go into the way of the Gentiles or enter any city of the Samaritans, but instead to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. This restricted their mission during His earthly ministry to Israel, the sheep of His pasture.

Les explains that Jesus sent these twelve forth and commanded them, saying, "Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Les connects this to the analogy running through Jesus' earthly ministry, that Israel is the sheep of His pasture. He says this imagery was picked up from the Old Testament, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." He clarifies that this does not mean Psalm 23 cannot be used, but in its original setting it was the Lord's dealing with His covenant nation, the children of Israel.
