What did Jesus tell Israel to prepare for?
Jesus told Israel to prepare for the coming earthly Kingdom, over which their Messiah would reign as King. He did not tell them to prepare for heaven or a glory land, because all of God's promises to the nation of Israel were earthly promises, not heavenly ones.
Les explains that Israel's promises from God were always earthly, never heavenly. God told Abraham his offspring would be as numerous as sand and made a great nation in Egypt. They had to go into Egypt, into slavery, and be ready to come out when Moses led them—all part of the divine purpose. When Christ begins to minister to Israel, He doesn't say, 'Prepare for the glory land.' Instead, they are to prepare for the coming Kingdom of which their Messiah will be King—an earthly Kingdom.
