What does it mean that Adam was not deceived in 1 Timothy 2:14?

Paul writes that Adam was not deceived, meaning his experience differed from Eve's. Eve was caught in a moment of weakness and ate before she knew what she had done. Adam, by contrast, had time to stop, think, and contemplate the situation before he ate.

Les teaches from 1 Timothy 2:13-14 that Paul is writing to Timothy, and this instruction applies to believers like us. Paul first says Adam was formed first, then Eve. Then he says Adam was not deceived. Les explains that many people do not realize that statement is in the Bible. Eve was caught in a moment of weakness, and before she knew what she had done, she had eaten; it happened fast. Adam, however, had time to stop and think. In that moment of shock, he backed off and contemplated the whole situation, asking what his beautiful creature wife had done. Yet she gave to him, and he ate.

1 Timothy 2:14

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
