Les Feldick Bible Study

Why did the blood of Christ have to be shed for fallen man?

The blood of Christ was shed to pay the price of redemption necessary for God to get control of fallen man. It was required, and it has been paid in full, surpassing the blood of bulls and calves that merely covered Israel's sins.

Les explains that all through Hebrews there is a constant comparison between that which was good and that which is far better. The earthly tabernacle was beautiful, functional, and did everything Israel needed, but it was patterned after something in heaven, more perfect. The blood of bulls and calves did its work, covering the sins of Israel, but it was nothing compared to the blood of Christ. Over and over, the blood of Christ has paid the price of redemption that had to be paid in order for God to get control of fallen man. He has done it; it has been paid in full.

Hebrews 9:12

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
