Why is the shedding of Christ's blood necessary for remission?

Christ's blood is the price of redemption. The cross of Calvary is where He paid that price for the whole human race, which fell under Satan's control through Adam. Scripture declares that without the shedding of blood there is no remission; had Christ not shed His blood, the redemption price would never have been paid.

Les explains that redemption means paying a price to bring people back to God. In the Old Testament picture, Israel's redemption from Egypt was more symbolic, with the blood of the Lamb keeping them safe at Passover and the Red Sea delivering them. But for the whole world, Christ paid the actual price with His own blood at Calvary. Les stresses that when Christ died, He paid the price for every human being's sin, though it cannot be appropriated until faith comes. Romans 3:25 calls Him a propitiation through faith in His blood; the blood is the price of redemption. Without shedding of blood, there is no remission, and if Christ had not shed His blood, the redemption price would never have been paid.
