What does it mean to be a joint heir?

A joint heir shares all things with Christ: what is His is ours, and what is ours is His. Believers are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, so suffering with Him leads to being glorified with Him. That glory is still coming.

Les explains that being a joint heir means mutual ownership: what is hers is mine, and what is mine is hers. We are joint heirs with Christ, so what belongs to Him belongs to us. Paul writes that if we suffer with Him, we may also be glorified with Him. Les stresses that this glorification is still coming and is what we are waiting for. Paul reckoned the sufferings of this present time—scourgings, shipwrecks, beatings, stoning—as nothing compared to the glory that shall be revealed to us, not to angels. Les warns that God has not forgotten; it is coming, and the end is nearer.

Romans 8:17

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
