Why did Paul go to the synagogue first in every city?

The apostle Paul went to the synagogue first in every city because Jews were present in every city of any importance in the Roman Empire. Being a Jew himself, steeped in Judaism and loving his kinsmen according to the flesh, he brought the message to them first from the Old Testament.

Les explains that Paul went first to the Jew, to the synagogue, because by that time Jews were in every city throughout the Roman Empire. Being a Jew himself, steeped in Judaism, and having a love for his kinsmen according to the flesh, every city he entered he would go first to the synagogue of the Jew. There he would expound to them out of the Old Testament, since there was no New Testament. The Gospels had not yet been written, so Paul could not tell people to read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Everywhere he went he simply had to speak the Word verbally, because nothing had been written until he began his letters.
