When and by whom was the beautiful temple destroyed, and what happened to the Jews?

The beautiful temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. by the Roman General Titus. As a result, the Jews were sent out into a complete dispersion; a few remained in Jerusalem and the areas of Israel, but most were scattered into every nation under heaven.

Les explains that the temple standing when Christ began His earthly ministry was the beautiful temple complex made by King Herod. Herod, though not a believer, was known as a tremendous builder in antiquity. He took the small restored temple of Ezra and Nehemiah, remodeled and enlarged it, and made it a wonder of the ancient world. That beautiful temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. by the Roman General Titus. Once again the Jews were sent out into a complete dispersion. A few stayed in Jerusalem and the areas of Israel, but for the most part they were sent out into every nation under heaven. This followed the earlier pattern when Nebuchadnezzar came to Jerusalem, destroyed it and the temple, and took Israel captive, with only a few returning.
