How long did Solomon's Temple last?

Solomon's glorious Temple, the first Temple, stood only about 350 to 400 years. It was 40 years in the making, a wonder of the ancient world, yet it remained on the scene for that relatively short period, especially compared to a 2000-year time span.

Les explains that the glorious Temple of Solomon was only on the scene about 350-400 years. In our reckoning of time that's a long time, but over a time span of 2000 years it's not very long. When you realize that the Solomon Temple as we normally think of it, or the first Temple, it was glorious, it was beautiful, it was 40 years in the making for building it, and it was one of the wonders of the ancient world, and yet it only stood about 350-400 years. This fits within the timeline: from 2000 years to the next big event at 1000 B.C., the appearance of King David, then Solomon his son, who builds the first Temple, all within a few years of 1000 B.C. From the time of Christ's first advent back to King David and Solomon and the building of the Temple is again about 1000 years.
