How can history still be on God's timetable if humans have free will?

Even though God gave humans free will and did not make them puppets on a string, history has still unfolded exactly on God's timetable. Nearly six thousand years after it began, it is not off by a month, which stands as one of the miracles of Biblical history.

Les explains that God turned man loose with a free will, so man is not just a puppet on a string. Yet in spite of that free will, nearly six thousand years after it all began, history is right on God's timetable—not off a month. Les calls this one of the miracles of Biblical history. To illustrate the timeline, he goes to the board and notes that chronologers once assumed Christ was born at zero and Adam was created 4,000 B.C., but thanks to archeology and King Herod's rule, reign, and death, Christ had to have been born 4 B.C., which puts Adam at 4,004 B.C. and the crucifixion at 29 B.C. instead of 33 B.C. This precise timeline, despite human free will, underscores the miracle.
