What were the people in Genesis like and what were they doing?
Genesis portrays the people as consumed with iniquity and wickedness, and the world was filled with violence. At the same time, they were doing ordinary things: eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage. Their daily routine continued even as the time before the Lord's coming grew short.
Les explains that Genesis tells us the world was filled with violence, and all the people could conceive of was things that were iniquitous and wicked. Yet at the same time they were doing all the things that are part and parcel of everyday living—eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage. That condition, Les indicates, shows the time is short and the Lord's coming is seconds away in view of the whole time period.
